He was not rich or educated, but was familiar with hard work. He was quick-tempered and impetuous, but possessed a passion that would change the world. He left everything to follow his teacher, yet struggled with doubt and fear.

Join pastor and author Adam Hamilton in this six-week Lenten journey, and take an in-depth dive into the life, faith, and character of Simon Peter. There is a material cost for this class. Call the church office for info. 956-399-2187 M-F 9:30 am to 12 pm.

Choose Joy- Because Happiness Isn't Enough by Kay Warren facilitated by Melissa Nelson

Ever wonder why some people seem to experience joy in their daily lives- even in tough times- and others can't seem to find it no matter how hard they search? Is a joy-filled life possible? The answer is yes?

Be part of this wonderful look into what joy really is and where to find it!

Two sessions will be offered...afternoon 1:30-3 and evening 7:00-8:30. Study will run for 4 weeks and last 1 1/2 hours. Cost: $5.00...make checks payable to FUMC San Benito.

Goliath Must Fall- " Winning the Battle Against Your Giants" by Louie Giglio- Facilitated by Darald Haedt

Starts February 13th with studies on Tuesdays at 7-8:30 pm or Wednesdays at 1-2:30 pm.


The classic story of David and Goliath is used to set up a familiar situation to help experience and understand the power of Jesus to live over the giants in your life. There is a $6 fee for the study book.

"The Shack"- Six Week Study- facilitated by Pastor Nelson

Begins Thursday, January 25th- viewing of the entire movie at 2pm.

Next session(s)- 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, & 3/1 all at 2pm.


In many ways "The Shack" is a modern-day parable similar to the stories Jesus told to help people better understand the truth that God communicates. This study will be applicable whether you are looking for faith, have lost faith along the way, or are strong in your faith but desire to trust God more deeply. There is a $6 fee for student materials. THIS FEE IS NOT FOR VIEWING THE MOVIE.

Faithful...Christmas Through the Eyes of Joseph - facilitated by Pastor Nelson

Starts November 28th with studies on Tuesdays at 7pm or Wednesdays at 1pm.


From his beginnings as a humble carpenter to his all-important role as the earthly father of Jesus Christ, Joseph’s place in the nativity story is sometimes overlooked, but contains valuable lessons for all of us. Adam Hamilton shows us the importance of Joseph’s life to us as people of God. Learn to accept and glorify God’s will even when circumstances make it difficult to do so. There is a $20 fee for the book. The book is not mandatory for the study.

Moses - facilitated by Dalton Hobbs

Starts October 19 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Walk in the footsteps of Moses, a man who challenged an empire, liberated a slaved people and changed the world. There is a $15 material fee.

Bible Journaling- led by Allison Thompson

Every Thursday until end of July, 2-4 pm

This group uses the bible in a new artistic way to explore God's word. Through watercolors, markers and pens, the word of God comes to you in new colors and understanding. In the end, not only do you walk away with truth but also a beautiful expression of your personal journey for you to keep. Allison is a professional art teacher and working artist.

Half Truths by Adam Hamilton- led by Dalton Hobbs

Starting July 20 until August 24, 6:30 - 7:30 pm

The book examines these popular half truths that many Christians embrace:

  • Everything happens for a reason

  • God helps those who help themselves

  • God won’t give you more than you can handle

  • God said it, I believe it, that settles it

  • Love the sinner, hate the sin
